Quickie updatey...

With term starting it's getting down to the nitty-gritty now, it's amazing (well not amazing, just thought-provoking.... well not even that) how many students in the summer would have loved to have been doing some kind of work having nothing to do for 5 months, yet know the first signs of work appear they wish they could go back in time in their time machine and not do work! I should know, i do :) , but alas my time machine is in Dixons, some 30,000 mile check-up service or something...

Not a long post because of work and what not but just enough time to say that the internet is running here at the ranch in Canterbury so I should be around a bit more than prior, so if i'm not here do leave a message and i'll get back to you as soon as Duncan stops eating the tortilla chips. He's ate 10 bags in a row, at 25p a pop that isn't bad but i fear for his bowel movements. And the laughter eminating from 3 hyped-up-on-7up students pointing, laughing and recording this feat on camera phones.

Anywho lastly, thanks to those informants at Digg, Divx are celebrating 5 years in the business by giving away their Divx Create bundle, which actually works, and is awesome, so click here to get it. Props to Digg for this link, the same site that pointed out when Opera gave away its software free too, although I cannae find the link. All the best!

Wherever the wind blows

Las películas de Stanley Kubrick eran acontecimientos de la señal... oh hello! I must have got the two windows mixed up - that is a side-thing for the entertainment section on ABC, the Spanish newspaper not the American TV station.

So anyway it's been a week here in Canterbury and i can see from the look and glint in your eyes, your all asking the same question - what's been going on bbBear?? Or perhaps your asking what i did with your oestrogen tablets - now that is a different matter, and can only assume Duncan ate them with his dundee cake - i must say he is feeling perkier these days.... but enough with the nutter-butter stuff, it's been nearly a week since i arrived and nearly two weeks since the last post - but with a distinct lack of internet in the house it was always going to be difficult to do anything. So i grabbed only 39 winks and clambered onto the nearest comp to bring you the skinny. Or the latest events per se (not Robin). Thanks to the"project" that I started last week, it has gotten me...... well somewhere. I am now a cricketer, karate-er and a church bell-ringer. Some-omnipotent-being knows what was going on in our heads when we decided to do that, but first meeting is 7pm on Monday which sounds ter-riffic. PAH. But the project also involved 2 chicken kebabs, enough cans of Cherry 7-up to fill a pretty big hole, and an invitation to join the Army. Hey, Chris commented that nobody said it was easy, although he didn't say whether it would be fun or not. But the journey continues into the habitual unknown, and who knows where it may lead me?

Academically, the ball gets kicked and term starts on Monday, with a funky lecture on, erm, somethign to do with the EU and its economics. It does sound better then it is, i hope, so good tidings i'll bring come Tuesday, what with that lecture and the insanely rock-hard arms i would have got ringing the church bells. One thing to note that I gots me a clash in lectures on Thursday, how they expect me to be in two places at once I don't know, with one impartial commentator observing that "This isn't Hogwarts!!". Oh the hilarity. But still, i gots me contacts and the latest technology, it should be a sinch (sic). b.t.w what does (sic) actually mean? I could go look it up but i gots to go in a second and pick up a FREE copy of the Financial Times - pretty neat eh? Um.. I will leave you on this Saturday with the news that Ask Jeeves is dumping Jeeves. What is the world coming to? Oh and below is the second part of Bolton's season so far, just cos it makes me feel good about myself. peace out

11th September 2005 - Bolton 0 - 0 Blackburn
18th September 2005 - Man City 0 - 1 Bolton

Stupid boy-projects? Yes please!

Before the main article, an interesting side note. Tonight was the new season of Room 101 (BBC2 - 10pm - replacing Danny WAllace's How To Start Your Own Country me thinks... :? ) but is it me or does Paul now include EVERYTHING his guests suggest? Does he not want to offend them in anyway? I mean, good ol' Nick Hancock threw everything out of there, he didn't want Room 101 filled with the ramblings and mishaps of society that "celebrity's" thought on a whim that was deserving. I don't want to ruin it if you videoed, or Tivo'd it tonight, but MAGICIANS?? Bah, dahm that pesky passionate Dara O'Briain and his impossible-to-pronouce-like-it-sounds-surname.

So anywho, tonight, marks something of an inspirational idea for me. I have read, and watched those masters of "lecture-based comedy research" Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace have these, "stupid boy-projects" (forgive me if i got the name wrong - my memory is blurred from Room 101, and SSBM) like following horoscopes, or starting a country. Well, from this Sunday the 18th September, i'm gonna get me one of dem things! But i'm not going to reveal it just yet, because people might start getting too excited by it, or emailing me with ludicrous things, but i will reveal all in good time, so check back onto this blog, or if the URL is too hard to remember, just remember http://www.bbBear.TK
So, the reason? Well looking back on life, the past year or so, its just.... uneventful. If you feel pissed off with that you might be involved somewhere, hey, click the X on the top-right and bog off. Or rather, my apologies that times spent with you have been, rolling to say the lease. Sure there's been SOME things, things i will remember, people that have touched me, in my special place...but still, it needs more, ooomph, more remembering, more.... MORE! Like a fat kid wanting more cake, i want more life - and this boy-project should help me. I don't wish to make it sound like this is the answer to all my problems, perhaps it will create even more, and i REALLY hope that i'm not psyching myself for a big dissapointment, but, from Sunday the 18th, life will change. I think. I hope. Unlike the Oasis song, i don't know. I like to liken myself to Dave Gorman, in as much that I like doing things, I'm just shit at starting them. But no more excuses! New approch to life? Yes please!

I'm aware thats a lot of text to read, but its good, clean wholesome text so have a read and send comments and/or emails - perhaps you might wanna write what YOU would put in Room 101. Actually, do what you want - most people do. To finish off, i leave with teh scintilating news that Google unveils its blog-search site. Neat.

One week on...

How do! It's been a week now since the last post, i was gonna write wednesday night, but obviously it didn't materalise through one thing and another, but still, i made time to chronicle the events of the last week. How lucky you are.

So tuesday night was indeed punk and ska night down in Canterbury, and mighty fine it was too. 3 bands, 1 punk and 2 ska bands that included Square (link would have been provided but for the lack of some sort of homepage!), which according to the Hives are the finest thing to come out of Sweden since themselves. I disagree myself but then again i do with most things. But it was a good evening, a taster of things to come when i move back down permanantly next sunday. Like i said, pix would have been uploaded but for 2 things - 1.) the darkness in that place was, um, dark 2.) the lack of effort in transferring pics across. But they will feature on the site soon, i promise. Well actually scrap that, i don't promise, but i will do my whole-heartedness to do so.

Have you been clicking on the links provided in the last post? If not, why not? What else do you do on the internet - "talk" using IM programs? Pah - perhaps your one of the fancy ones to use Google Talk, or the elitist amongst you using Skype, which offers so much in the future market of VoIP, but still click on the right there - they are good, well most are, some are just decrepid and insepid. But speaking of Google, who in their right mind would search for ""talk dirty on msn" 2005"? Even worse, WHY AM I A RESULT ON THERE??

Why am i linked to all them dregs on the interweb? Bahhhh, although props to the guy who sent me that link - i do worry about him, i do honestly. He's like, a hybrid of Richard O'Brien from the Crystal Maze and Jim Bowen from Bullseye. Just not as handsome - or rugged - or humane. Also, click here to see why I seem to result in Badblogs.net from this search place? Magic Darts!!

So with one week left here, one week in employment, i sense a sad farewell on the horizon, but with Daniel Powter on my cassette walkman, i fear i can tackle anything - anything except being linked on Google by some other turn of phrase. IF you wanna get in contact, use the email address to the right or do leave comments, i do read them, sometimes. If your bored, read the story on how the Japanese PM tightens his grip on power after winning the election gamble, perhaps it was a gamble on whether he would indeed win the right to serve office again. Or maybe i should actually read the story links i give you heh. Anyway peace out peeps, and KEEP DONATING to the Katrina Hurricane Relief Fund

There has been an erroneous error...

Well howdy, similiar post title to prior, but it wasn't worthy of being catastrophic, or cataclysmic, or other superlatives that may begin with the letter C. Plus, why doesn't life work out the way you want, eh? Anywho, more on that later.

Couple of changes to this blog, i do like to tweak things here there and everywhere, i anticipate the day i change the colour scheme on here, but a still, enough whining of the lack of HTML skillz i possess. The main changes are over thar on t'right hand side, more ESSENTIAL LINKEHS!! I know how y'all love them, and i will format it to look neater, maybe a couple of pictures, some .gifs, or jifs, depending how you say it, but definately not Cif - ppff Europeanisation my big arse. Anyway, i'll list the new links, case you wonder what they might be - oh and check out the alphabetisation :)

Anyway tomorrow should have been the night when British Third-wave ska took a leap forward (i guess?) with the Catch-It Kebabs playing in Canterbury, but, it isn't till Tuesday now - d'oh! However, i do have numerous, administrative dooties to do tomorrow, plus others i don't think were free tomorrow, but are tuesday so it should be or-sum...Piccies on their way soon.

As i won't post for a few days, check out the link's above but also check this gallery, courtesy of the dudes at Gorilla Mask of Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria. Pretty tasty stuff, but it looks good, too good to be natural and/or real, example below. Do i sniff Photoshop somewhere...........dahm this jealousy..........

AOL I Love You!

*Ahem*

Ok, i deny it, I personally don't love AOL. In the past I have ciriticised them and would be the first to admit they suck ass, and i found out that their "concern" for the well being of internet users centred on the fact they wanted feared technophobes to download their software which denys the user any right of privacy. So I hear. However, I do reccommend checking out AOL music, especially the AOLSessions section. Artists, many famous and all-new artists perform in AOL's studios, somewhere, and perform live tracks. It is shown on TV, on Fuse me thinks but anyway, it was indeed on Natasha Bedingfield's performance of "These Words" that she sold out and said those immortal words, "AOL I love you!" and "AOL, your pretty cool". *sigh* But still, it is being added to the ESSENTIAL LINKEH on the right, cos the vast number of artists and songs that performed on AOLSessions is too big to list. Just click there and find out.

Some other changes implented, is firstly the right-click protection running on the blogspot site is being removed, i got pissed off with it myself, trying to copy bits and what not getting that fabulous pop-up box. No one else complained, maybe no one else is suspicious or as conspicuous as me. Heh. But 2 ESSENTIAL LINKEHs is Badblogs, it is always a good read and also Digg, something for the technofiles amongst you. Or the g33ks. Or the ones who can't watch porn until their folks are in bed.

In terms of everything else, im sure there are other sites who are covering the stuff that's going on in New Orleans with the floods and hurricane Katrina and what not, but the story of looting and carnage really is appaling, and i think that the only person to cover this story fairly and with a dose of reality is FOAMY THE SQUIRREL. So check it out. I will leave a peronal post till the weekend. So peace out yo, and remember to clickeh, the linkehs...
